I originally started this effort by donating 100% of the proceeds and today with the help of my customers we went BEYOND my goal of 200 dollars. I sold 12 bears and donated 312 to the American Red Cross!

Since supplies and time are costly I have decided to keep this effort going but I am now donating 25% of the sales to keep up with the supply costs and time. I made two new bunnies yesterday. They are 18 inches tall! 6 inches bigger than the original size bunnies. I need to take some pictures of someone holding them because you really can't tell in the pictures but they are so big and cuddly! I really love the way they turned out. I made them with vintage sheets. They are eco-friendly and adorable. I think they would be perfect in a large Easter basket filled with all kinds of delicious chocolates and jelly beans.

a musician that you fall in love with instantly and every song gives you butterflies? That's how I feel about Nicole Reynolds. I heard her a month or two ago on Pandora and absolutely fell in love with her. I am sad I didn't know about her sooner but thankful that I know about her now! I'm leaving my hometown (FINALLY) and moving to Oakland California in ....

2 to 3 weeks?!

I seriously can hardly see, breathe, speak or talk.

I am in complete shock.
Didn't see this coming. Didn't plan on it at all.. ever.

It just happened!

I am filled with excitement for the first time in a long time.

I don't have a single fear in the world either! which is weird for me because I tend to really over-think things and then I become worried. But not this time.
I am so ready for a change. I can't WAIT!

I know its not Portland but it doesn't matter anyway. It was meant to be this way.

I know my art isn't great but it still feels good to get it out of me.

The first one is a little fox guy drawn on paper with a few splashes of paint & then sewn onto dotted fabric.

The second one is a collaboration with little Finnley Wolf. He did the background and I did the bunny.

The third one I made last night when I was going insane in my craft room.. I like the sewn scraps of fabric around her.. because sometimes I feel like I am drowning in fabric.

Our trip to Portland was short, sweet and a tad bit stressful because we were rushed most of the time.. and we got lost in the city once. But we will be back soon I'm sure because our hearts are set on moving there.

I took a multivitamin for the first time in months last night before bed. Bad idea. I was up all night long thinking about what I want my new mini terrarium to look like. I swore that there was a ghost in there trying to stop me from yelling Trents name. I felt paralyzed and insane last night in bed... I never knew that a vitamin could make me feel like I was on drugs.

I dont know about you but I am getting tired of this weather. Its so cold and dark everyday, It makes me feel sluggish.

I found this beauty today at an antique store and it was such a good price I just had to have it. Im going to put my record player on top of it. I am so in love with the color! It says Monterey Mexican yellow underneath it in scratchy old writing. It even came with a cute yellow chair.

Its out! Today! Wooohooo! I completely forgot until I went to the craft store a little bit ago. I had to drive to Barnes and Noble to pick it up because the craft store didn't get their shipment in yet. Anyway, I am so excited! I am featured on pages 56-61 and my photos are huge! I didn't expect to be on so many pages... I am very pleased with the outcome :) There are so many great plush artists in this magazine, JunkerJane and Skunkboy Creatures being my two favorites. The cover is very cute done by ScrumptiousDelight. Hope everyone can check it out!

Huckleberry is a busy little bird. He flaps his wings through the trees, over the mountains and through the thicket to make sure that everything is A-Okay in the forest. He feels that its his responsibility to watch over his animal pals. He is a very good bird indeed.

Ok everyone.. I am very much in love with this bird. I mean.. he makes my heart flutter. It was hard for me to list him but I figure there are always more birds out there ;)

This year we got a potted Fir.. we are going to plant it when Christmas is over. My JunkerJane doll is up at the top.

Chico winters have been really strange in the past years.. This winter feels real. I remember last December being really sunny and odd.. I love the overcast weather and rain. This is a view from the kitchen.

I found that flocked vintage yellow tree at an antique store. Its covered in gold glitter, you just can't see it in this photo.

One of my A shleyG Prints.. I found this frame at a thrift store and took the ugly old picture out and gave this little fox a new home.

Whew. Its 1:43 and this is my 4th night in a row up this late, sewing. Tonight I completed a bunch of plushies that will be shipped out tomorrow. Only 28 more to go until I am completely caught up with my orders. They will be out on Saturday and Monday morning with priority shipping so they should (HOPEFULLY) make it by Christmas. A lot of these orders were made after my Xmas deadline anyway.. So the customers are not expecting them but it would be nice if I could get them out in time.

I never expected this. When I read all of the "are you ready for the holidays?" blogs and emails from Etsy I just shrugged it off. I had absolutely NO idea that I would receive so many sales. On black friday alone I made over 18 sales and from that day on it has been complete madness. It has tapered off quite a bit now that I have almost emptied my shop completely... only offering little red foxes and a couple of other plushies. Next year I am going to start my holiday plush stash way ahead of time, like summertime when sales are slow. I want to have a stash of about 50 plushies before October. That way I am not completely engulfed in work.

Next year I hope I can enjoy the holidays and maybe even decorate my house or hmm.. make handmade gifts for loved ones.

I am not complaining by any means. I just can't wait for this rush to be done with! I can't remember the last time I did a recreational craft. Ohh sounds so nice.

Yesterday I got the sweetest convo from one of my customers. Thanking me for the three foxes that I made for her. She even made this adorable little painting of the three foxes. Etsy customers are the greatest!

In other news, my shop will be shut down until I complete or at least catch up with all of these holiday orders. This is my first holiday season on Etsy and boy... I never knew it would be like this!! I am so swamped with work.. but its a good thing! I can handle it :) I just know that If I take on anymore orders I will be too overwhelmed so I made the decision last night to close sleepy king.

I found the long necked deer salt shakers today at an antique store and fell in love. Only 12 bucks too! The miniature deer is from the same antique store - 3 dollars. I love her.. shes sleepy, just like me. :)

I've had the bunny for awhile, picked it up for 99 cents at Thrifty Bargain. I have a small collection of these porcelain animals. I am going to make a point to buy at least a few each month because they bring me a lot of joy.

Simple things like this make me really happy inside. Imagine a japanese anime character with twinkle-y eyes and a big open smile..

thats how I feel when I find the perfect porcelain miniature.

The beret I am wearing is from softspoken and I adore it :D and Norway Spruce the fox is in my shop.

Today is a tad bit overcast which really makes me happy. I am listening to Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited and sipping on a trainwreck (2 shots of espresso + coffee) soon I am going to get to sewing, cleaning the house, and going to the park to collect bits of nature with Finnley. I am making a little nature shrine in my living room. I will probably post some pictures of it soon.

fun family day! finnley and i were foxes. mama fox and baby fox. trent was a crazy cat lady, we stopped by the local animal shelter so he could pet the kitties. went downtown to the kids event and stopped by the in-laws. i am sooo sleepy tonight so we decided to relax at home instead of going to the "adult party"

I love these foxes! They look so cozy. And they are great cuddling plushies for babies/kids. You can find these two in my shop. I plan on making a bunch of other "sleepy" animals, such as a sleepy squirrel and maybe a sleepy raccoon. But I am mostly focusing on sleepy foxes in a bunch of different colors. Does anyone have any suggestions on some other expressions you would like to see on my plushies? I am open to advice and suggestions!

I deleted or "deactivated" my facebook last night because I was sick of it always hanging over me. (Did you know that facebook won't let you completely delete your profile?)

First thing I though of in the morning was "Oh I wonder if anyone commented on that link I posted" Or, "Ooh I bet my 'friends' would really like to know what I ate for breakfast this morning." It seems like when you have a facebook the need for calling old friends or family members becomes less and less. When you can just go to their wall to see what they're up to why call them?

After almost a year of having a facebook I started to notice that I hang out with people less and less. I know that we've all got our own busy lives but come on.. really.. you can't even call to say hi? We can't even go get tea or coffee?

I am starting to think that I don't have any real friends at all anymore. I am okay with this... I would just really like to meet some new people. I'm just not the same as we I to be. I don't want to gossip with you about so and so.. I want to craft, I want to talk about sewing and music. I want to hangout with other moms who parent the way that I do..

I don't have much in common with the people in this town. I hate this town. I absolutely h a t e it here. I have outgrown this town and it seems impossible to escape it. I feel like I am drowning.

In an attempt to keep my spirits up I listen to Belle and Sebastian every day. I sing this song at the top of my lungs and sometimes I feel like a crazy bat.. but it makes me laugh anyway.

Halloween Paper Doll

I got my paper doll in the mail from woolandwater! I have been having a grand old time playing with her. Yes, playing. I know I should be doing grown up things because technically, I am "grown up" but I am just not interested in acting grown up yet.

Anyway, I LOVE this doll. I mean LOVE. She has brightened up my day! I really want to start a collection of weird paper dolls now.. I'm going to. I can't wait! I apologize to those of you who have been waiting to find out who the winner of the 100th sale plush is! I have been SO busy over the last few weeks. Packing, moving, unpacking, catching up with my orders, etc, etc. I already notified the winner of the plush giveaway and he was very excited because he and his wife just had twins! Life is weird right now. Everything is up in the air. Are we moving across town? Or is Trent going to get a job in Vancouver or Portland? I never know whats happening because everything is always changing. I don't even make set plans anymore. Thinking about the future always gives me a headache anyways. Never know.. whatever happens, happens. Portland would be great because thats truly where I want to be. Ever since we visited in early summer I have been dreaming of those crepes on Division st. Mmmm. I can't find a single crepe in Chico.

And right now I'm in a creative slump. No fresh ideas. I'm getting burnt out on my plushies. I might move on to something else. I might just take a break from etsy.

Wedding Weekend

So this weekend Trent, Finnley and I are going to Lodi California to celebrate my brother in laws wedding. Its probably going to be the fanciest wedding I've ever been to. We are staying at a 5 star hotel at a winery! I will bring my camera and hopefully.. I'll remember to take some pictures. I picked out my rehersal dinner dress today at a lovely little boutique in my town called LuLus. I realize now that It might be too casual? I am not a dressy person AT ALL so I had a really hard time finding one. I am stubborn when it comes to dressing myself too. I hate stuffy clothes. I hate super trendy clothes. I just loved this little black dress because its simple and looks handmade and almost vintage?

And then I saw THIS ONE ! Ahhh its so beautiful! I want it! Not for the wedding but just to have it.

Anyways.. This post really is pointless. Im not a good blogger, forgive me!

I just wanted to say goodbye to my followers and my etsy friends :)

I am IN LOVE! I have never, EVER been this happy with an etsy purchase. My marmalade deer came in the mail today. I opened the package and nearly fell over. Its so perfect! Such beautiful craftsmanship!! Its much bigger than I thought it would be too. The packaging was thoughtful and adorable as well. She included a handwritten note, a mini moo card and *even* a button!!

Rupert seems to be my most popular softie. People love him! He made it to the front page today, Yes!!! I love the front page! I think I need to re-take Ruperts pictures though, they look a little weird. Anyways.. my wholesale order is *almost* done. Its been so much fun making a bunch of my plushies all at once. I got a little side tracked last night and I made Finnley an organic cotton toy stuffed with bamboo. He loves it!! He has a bunch of organic cotton receiving blankets and they are sooo nice but they are way too small for him now so I decided I will make him toys and maybe a pair of comfy lounge pants. Anyways, Its time to go to the post office. I love the smell of the post office. I want to sleep there.
